“If you can’t do great things, do small things in a great way”.
Something that inspires me to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (aside from my boys) is our home hospital, Johns Hopkins All Children’s in St. Pete, Florida. “Growing up Disney”, I have an affinity for businesses and companies that embody Disney’s Quality Service Model. Disney’s model is a compass, aligning components such as guestology (study of those you serve), the cast (employees), the setting, and quality standards. The right direction strategically is to exceed expectations. I am frequently in awe with their attention to detail in delivery. Every single part of your surroundings is thoughtfully designed and placed to orchestrate and enhance guest experience.
I always feel the Disney Approach when we are at our hospital. A small example – the various animals to climb on in the breezeway from the parking garage to the building (pictured). We are never really entering the hospital to “have a good time”, but what a way to inspire a few laughs and also relax both the child and parent on their way inside. It sets the tone for the entire visit, and it speaks to the fact that the patients are the central focus of all that they do. The experience is carried through by the staff who is delivering the service.
The follow through on their efforts is evident in the administration’s engagement with our Family Advisory Council. Their commitment to our suggestions for change or improvement demonstrates their understanding of a family’s needs throughout their child’s medical journey.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Disney and CMN Hospitals are such an incredible #forthekids team in their Run Disney partnership (Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is the presenting sponsor and celebratory charity of the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend). They are simply two groups of people who understand that doing small things in a great way can make a BIG difference. 💛❤️💛
